Frequently asked questions
Do these QR codes expire?
No. Your content is encoded directly into the pattern rather than pointing at a redirect service, so the code will keep working for as long as the destination URL does. There is no account, no tracking link and nothing that can be switched off later.
What size should I use for printing?
Generate at 512 or 1024 pixels and print the code at least 2 x 2 cm (about 0.8 inches). As a rule of thumb, a scanner needs the code to be about one tenth of the scanning distance, so a code read from 1 metre away should be around 10 cm across.
Can I use my brand colors?
Yes, but keep the contrast high and the foreground darker than the background. Inverted codes (light pattern on a dark field) fail on many scanners, and low contrast pairs fail in poor lighting. Test with two or three phones before printing a run.
Can I add a logo in the middle?
This tool generates the code at the highest error correction level, which tolerates roughly 30 percent damage, so you can overlay a small logo in an image editor afterwards. Keep it under about 20 percent of the code area and always test the result.
Is the content I encode private?
Yes. The QR code is generated by JavaScript running on your device. What you type never leaves your browser.
